A much newer part of our industry is the introduction of PPE (personal protective equipment) vending machines. These look similar to your traditional snack/drink system, however under the hood there are some important differences.
Typically these machines are used by industries which require the regular use of protective equipment. Mining is one major industry which can benefit from using PPE.
Please read the FAQ below which will explain in greater detail how these systems work, and what they can do for you.
What Exactly is A PPE Vending Machine?
A vending machine which dispenses safety equipment for staff and contractors to use. It requires no money to be used. Instead it uses an RFID card system that allows you (the administrator) to keep track of who exactly has possession of each item, as well as allowing you to keep track of inventory levels.
What Is the Major Benefit to Using PPE?
By using a PPE machine at your work place, you’ll reduce the amount of items that are stolen or “taken home”. This will save you thousands of dollars, and really is a no brainer investment for you.
What Are The Other Benefits?
There is no doubt that in modern times, work place safety has become paramount. OH & S laws are always becoming more stricter, so it’s in everyone’s best interest to make the work environment as safe as possible. You can take a big step in this direction by using safety vending machines at your work site. This will free up any clutter and will confine all safety equipment in one safe confined area. The system is very easy to use and is a fuss free way of dispensing items to staff members.
How Do PPE Machines Work?
Smart cards are issued to staff members and/or contractors. When a user needs an item, he or she will swipe their card on the vending machine, and their wanted item will be dispensed. The system will automatically record details of the transaction, thanks to inbuilt software.
What Type Of Details Will Be Recorded?
- Location of the vending machine
- Date/Time the item was dispensed from machine
- The Name of The Dispensed Item
- The size/color of item (ie large yellow hard hat)
- Name and id details of the person who has dispensed the item
All this is made possible thanks to smart software that comes with the machine. A LAN or Modem connection will be required for the best functionality.
What Will Happen If A RFID Card Is Lost?
In the event that a card is lost or stolen, this will not be a problem at all. Since the cards don’t contain any monetary value, losing one will not be a big issue. However the owner of that card should report the missing card as soon as possible.
Is There Anything Else PPE Can Do For Me?
– Reduce paper work by making this process as automated as possible
– Generate online reports which show your stock levels and items dispensed by user
– You’ll be able to monitor stock inventory levels in real time
We hope this page has educated you more on PPE and how our systems can help your work place function more effectively, safely and also save you money.
